All this Talk of Food Is Making Me Hungry
If you’re planning a trip to Disney World, you may be wondering how to save money on Disney food. After all, with so many tempting restaurants and snack carts, it’s easy to get carried away and blow your budget. Luckily, there are a few simple Disney World food hacks and tips that can help you keep your spending in check.
My 14 Best Disney World Food Hacks to Try:
1. Eat a Big Breakfast
Eating at breakfast is the best way to save money while in Walt Disney World. It’s also one of my favorite things about visiting there! I highly recommend that you try some traditional American favorites such as waffles or pancakes for only $5 each, instead of paying up front prices during lunchtime hours – which can easily reach $10-$15 per person plus tax (depending on where we sit).
2. Journey Out for Your Dessert
Desserts at WDW restaurants can be tempting, but are expensive. A few wow factor sweets come to mind, but most of them just aren’t worth your money (and this includes both price tag as well as flavor). So instead go buy some tasty treats from somewhere else where you’ll find tastier things with half the cost or have better flavors. Plus, add a drink to your dessert (like an expresso) to make it a whole new experience.
3. Use Your Pass!
There is no better way to save money on your next vacation than by becoming an annual passholder! Annual Passes get you access 10-15% discounts from select numbers of Disney restaurants, walk up windows and even packaged food.
4. Take Some Fruit to Eat
Fruit is a great way to keep your energy up and not feel hungry. Bring a banana, orange or even an apple, you can bring them to the Disney Resort or buy them inexpensively as several gas stations and drug stores nearby.
5. Seasonal Prices Should Be Avoided
It’s no surprise that the prices at Disney are going up. What may come as a shock, though, is how much they hike during your favorite times of year! You’ll want to avoid visiting between September and November or mid-January through March if you can help it because food is not more expensive but hotels will also have lower rates too – meaning less stress on top of everything else. Is this really worth considering? It all depends: do you like paying for more?
6. Bring Some Food (Even if Snacks)
Packing your own snacks is the best way to save money when you get hungry in a park. It’s also much healthier than buying those expensive churros, Dole Whips and other sweet goodies that are so tempting but can really add up if taken too often! You should always pack lunch as well unless there’s some specific reason why not – like being on antibiotics for example (which I hope isn’t happening!).

A great idea would be packing things such as fruit leathers or granola bars instead of more conventional options because they may take longer however these will last longer before needing replacement which makes them actually cheaper over time
7. Quick Service Restaurants are The Best Value
Instead of paying $44 for one meal at a restaurant, you can get both sides and dessert with Quick Service meals averaging around 15 dollars. This is much cheaper than Table service restaurants which run upwards of 30 bucks on average!
8. Get Free Ice Water – Not $4 Bottle Water
Did you know Disney will give you free iced water at all quick service locations? Yep! And this will save you $4 a bottle at the quick service locations. However, it’s important to ask for iced water (and not tap water) as that is filtered in their machines and tastes much better than pure Florida water.
9. Limit Spending With a Disney Gift Card
To save money on food, consider getting a prepaid Disney gift card. This way you can prevent yourself from overspending at restaurants and resorts!
10. Order Entrée Only from the Quick Service Menus
Disney’s secret menu is that you don’t have to have everything on the plate….and it’s cheaper. Ask for “entree only” prices at most quick service locations. This will pair down the costs as the side and dessert won’t be included (and might not be all that appealing anyway.)
11. Breakfast Buffets are the Best Value
The best time to visit Character Dining is during breakfast, when you can enjoy smaller crowds and great food. Plus there are always awesome characters!
12. Eat off Property
When you’re looking for cheap meal options, your best bet is to go a few minutes off Disney property. Here there’s tons of restaurant chains that range from fast food favorites like McDonalds or applebees; popular dining spots such as Red lobster which offers unlimited fries served up by servers in formal wear-to those more casual restaurants with standard menu items
13. Split Large Dinner Plates as a Meal
There’s no better way to save money than by dining with friends! Dining alone can get expensive, so it’s great when you find yourself at an overcrowded chain restaurant and realize that there is plenty of food for two people. This also works well if one person in your party doesn’t eat much because they will still be satisfied without feeling too stuffed after eating their entire meal.
14. Buy Drinks, but Not With your Dinner
If you’re staying on Disney property, especially at a resort hotel it’s cheaper to buy drinks from gas stations located within the park. You’ll find cheaper milk and beer than what is offered in shops around any given location of your stay – even if they are connected with named properties like ” resorts.”
15. Free Refills Are Possible at Disney
Some Disney quick service restaurants offer self-serve soft drink machines. If you are very thirsty, then you need to find the Disney locations where you purchase a drink and can get more than some serving. The refills are possible, you so you can literally go back and get refills, plus you won’t be asked to be paying an additional dime.
16. Enjoy the Disney Pastries
If you’re looking for a lower price point for a reasonable food item, consider a pastry. Muffins, scones and even cold sandwiches are sold at most quick service locations that cater to coffee lovers and breakfast locations.
